Thonet bar stool 60 and 73

The Michael Thonet designed BST 60 and 73 stools can be seen in catalogs as far back as 1867. A variety of these stools were developed using various bracing techniques.
This particular design has been commonly used throughout the world over the last 140 years. The additional strength provided by the arching brace makes this version of the Michael Thonet designed stool a particular favorite.
As early as 1840 Michael Thonet started experiments with bent veneers in an effort to reduce the number of separate pieces of wood being used in chairs. These early techniques were successful in reducing the number of pieces in chairs from 10 to 5. Further reduction became the focal point of Michael Thonets work.
Materials: Frame in solid natural beechwood or beechwood with stain. Seat from veneer ring in woven cane, or upholstered with fabric or leather.
